Most people look at those infrared bathroom lamps and just see a way to stop shivering when they get out of the shower. But we looked at them differently. We wanted to build something that actually fights back against mold and mildew in those damp, sticky corners of your bathroom.
How it actually works
Here is the thing about standard heaters: they just warm up the air. That’s fine for your skin, but it doesn’t do much for your walls. Our lamps use short-wave radiation. Instead of hovering in the air, the heat goes straight into the walls and floors. It creates a quick spike in temperature right on the surface. So, when water droplets try to land, they don’t just sit there—they evaporate almost instantly. It’s all about the dew point. By keeping the surfaces warm, we stop condensation from ever settling. And since mold needs standing water to move in and start a colony, we’ve basically taken away its home.
Getting the moisture out
We also use these lamps to help with “passive dehumidification.” Because the heat is so intense, it creates a pressure difference. The warm air shoots upward, pushing all that heavy, moist air straight toward your vent. It’s way faster than relying on a basic space heater. Plus, the specific spectrum we use reaches into the porous parts of your tiles and grout. It pulls the hidden moisture out from deep inside the wall and pushes it to the surface where it can finally dry out.
A few things to keep in mind
Now, there are some trade-offs. These lamps pack a punch, which means they pull a decent amount of power. You can’t just plug these into your existing light switch or you’ll be tripping your breakers constantly. You’ll want a dedicated line. Also, these things gethot. You have to be careful about where you mount them. If they’re too close to certain plastics or cheap paint, you’re going to have a scorching problem. One last tip: if you’re putting these in a tiny stall, the heat is massive. Make sure your exhaust fan is actually working. Otherwise, you aren’t getting rid of the dampness—you’re just pushing it from the walls up to the ceiling.
